The stone above is for one of the descendants of that Andrew Newcomb, my other g-g-g grandparents -- Frances and Sarah (Frank & Sally) (Gordon) Newcomb and their children. There is a road on Cape Cod where my grandpa lives that was named after one of my Newcomb ancestors, "AP Newcomb."

"There is a funny story about my Uncle John Newcomb. In between wars, he lived with his parents, Frank and Sally Newcomb and in the 1880's started dating a girl named Margaret Stewart. He kept telling Maggie that he'd marry her as soon as he had a house. Little did Maggie know that what he really meant was a soon as he had his *father's* house. His father didn't pass away until 1923 at the age of 95 when John and Maggie were both 62 years old! They finally married on 26 January 1924."

We were able to re-erect this stone for Thomas Rice. A mole was living under it...
