Meeting Julia Butterfly Hill

On October 27th, 2000, when I was 4 and a half years old, I met Julia Butterfly Hill at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. Did you know that for over two years, Julia lived in Luna, a thousand year old giant redwood tree in Northern California? She lived in the tree to protect it from being turned into somebody's deck or sauna. Only 3% of the redwood forests are left in the United States. Julia's home for those two years was a 6' x 8' platform with a tarp over it. Her feet did not touch the ground until the tree was permanently protected.
